SAMPO aka THE DAY THE EARTH FROZE - 1959

Dans un beau pays du Nord, le bûcheron Lemminkainen rencontre la belle Anniki, sœur du forgeron Ilmarinen qui connaît le secret de fabrication du Sampo, une roche magique produisant l’abondance. Non loin de là, sur l’île de Pohjola, peuplée de gnomes et de trolls, la sorcière Louhi désire augmenter sa puissance grâce au Sampo. Elle fait alors enlever Anniki afin d’attirer Ilmarinen sur ses terres. Based on Finnish mythology, this movie traces the exploits of Lemminkäinen as he woos the fair Annikki and battles the evil witch Louhi. Louhi kidnaps Annikki to compel her brother to build for her a Sampo, a magical device that creates salt, grain, and gold.
